Yarrow ~ Achillea millefolium
Yarrow is an amazing flowering plant that is in the Asteraceae family. The Yarrow that is used in this extraction is grown in my garden without the use of chemicals or pesticides. It makes a beautiful ground cover that has powerful medicinal benefits.
Yarrow has been used for many years as an agent to help the coagulation of blood in minor skin injuries. The leaves themselves can be applied directly to the skin in a hurry or a quick spritz of yarrow extract to the wound will quickly slow bleeding. As an addition to tea or taken directly, it can help women ease the pain and cramping associated with menstruation, which is my personal favorite application.
Additionally, yarrow may be used to treat a number of other ailments such as treating the symptoms associated with IBS, stomach spasms, digestive inflammation, depression, and anxiety, reducing inflammation in the brain and spinal cord during a viral infection, reducing liver inflammation, and aiding in healing skin infections.
